I started the Eats4Life program the first week in January of this year. My schedule is crazy, working 4 jobs and going to school full time. I still manage to mostly stick to my eating plan, which consists of eating nothing white (no white bread, white rice, etc) and eating very little sugar. I have 2 high carb days per week, Wednesday and Saturday, so that my body's metabolism gets tricked up twice a week and doesn't just relax into the same old routine every day. The weight that I did lose was primarily dropped due to changes in eating habits. Just recently did I start focusing on working out as well as eating right.
Through the past few months I have dealt with being away from home for 3 weeks and not having access to the foods I regularly eat, and trying to find ways to eat as much according to my plan as possible. I have done pretty well.
Since January, I have managed to drop 20 pounds! This is a huge hurdle for me, as many of us find ourselved struggling with our weight on a daily basis. It is so difficult to try to eat according to what you believe is healthy because labels on the front of food packages can be so misleading. One would assume that frozen yogurt is healthier than ice cream because it's yogurt, but regular yogurt can be like eating dessert because of all the sugar in it! I only eat plain Chobani now, with some other goodies such as all natural peanut butter and cinnamon or frozen fruit and cinnamon mixed in. Much more healthy, filling, and much less sugar! Also, reduced fat on a label usually means more sugar in a product, so it's really hard to find what you're looking for and I am glad I was able to turn to a nutritionist for help. Joanne Dunn Hoffman at Eats4Life has really helped me get my life and my health back on track!
